At Derby LIFE we are open to women, girls, men, couples and anyone experiencing pregnancy-related difficulties.  We have skilled helpers and counsellors to assist women and men during what is often a difficult time.  Our help consists of :-

• Practical and compassionate support for pregnant women and parents of young children

• Free, immediate support and counselling on pregnancy and abortion

• Counselling after abortion

• Support and counselling on pregnancy loss, miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, adoption and still birth

• Free pregnancy testing

• Help and support on fertility using Na-Pro Technology from LIFE’s FertilityCare programme

• Help with accommodation during and after pregnancy, vulnerably housed and unsupported mothers.

• Help with baby clothes and equipment when needed

• Free Chlamydia Testing

We are always looking for new volunteers to help out with our caring work, fundraising, advertising and reaching out into the community through a local awareness campaign.

To enable us to keep up our stocks, we also take donations of new and good quality second-hand baby clothes and equipment including pushchairs, cots, high chairs etc.

 If you are interested in becoming a supporter of LIFE, we can arrange for the necessary forms to be completed and a direct debit set up for payment of as little or as much as you would be able to give.

Having moved to No 61 Green Lane, we are now running a Charity Shop on the Ground Floor, offering for sale good quality clothes, music, books, toys, bric-a-brac etc., donations of which are always gratefully received. If you would like to volunteer to work in the Charity Shop, please contact Margaret as above.

Contact with Our Lady of Lourdes Parish

 Derby LIFE have a long history of association with Our Lady of Lourdes Parish as, over many years, parishioners and priests alike have helped us on numerous occasions.  Our Lady of Lourdes Finance Committee is very generous in donating a substantial figure each quarter that enables us to keep our Care Centre open and running.

Many of our volunteers are parishioners and, following a LIFE Sunday held in July 2007, we now have at least six parishioners who regularly volunteer for Derby LIFE.

When organising fundraising events, it is usual for Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Centre to be available to us free of charge. We hold occasional Quiz Nights and Table Top Sales in the Centre and usually attend the the Churches Together Summer Fayre.

Finally, we would like to thank all at Our Lady of Lourdes for their generous and continued support of Derby LIFE, without which we would struggle to continue our much-needed work in the community.
